A variety of Jewish groups are offering educational and recreational online resources. Below is a sampling of those. The Reporter will publish additional listings as they become available.
One Book, One Hadassah will hold a virtual discussion on “Displaced Persons’ by Joan Leegant on Thursday, August 22, at 7 pm. Leegant will discuss her award-winning collection of short stories, “Displaced Persons,” with Hadassah Magazine Executive Editor Lisa. For more information or to register, click here.
The Blue Dove has mental health resources for Tisha B’Av, which begins at sundown on Monday, August 12, and Tu B’Av, which begins at sundown on Sunday, August 18. They can be found here and here.
The Yiddish Book Center will hold two virtual classes: “Yiddish Alphabet Course with Moishele Alfonso: Section 1,” on Tuesdays and Thursdays, September 3, 5, 10 and 12, from 11 am-12:30 pm (available here); and “Yiddish Alphabet Course with Moishele Alfonso: Section 2” on Tuesdays and Thursdays, September 3, 5, 10 and 12, from 6-7:30 pm (available here). The cost to attend is $100 for Yiddish Book Center members and $175 for non-members.
Melton will hold the course “Evolving Tradition: Deepening Our Understanding of Conservative Judaism” on Wednesdays, August 28-September 11, from 1:30-3 pm. There is sliding scale cost to attend. The class “will explore the history of Conservative Judaism, how the movement began, the key principles and ideals are that serve as its foundation, and where it is going.” For more information or to register, click here.

YIVO will hold the hybrid panel discussion “Yiddish on the Move: Yiddish Writing and Publishing after the Holocaust” on Thursday, September 19, at 7:30 pm. Rachelle Grossman, Matt Johnson, Harriet Murav and Christin Zühlke will discuss the dynamics of Yiddish writing and publishing across transnational literary networks after the Holocaust. Ritualwell will hold virtual class “Dispatches to the Divine: Soliloquys to Spirit” on Wednesday, September 18, from noon-1:30 pm. The cost to attend is $36. Qesher will present the virtual program “Desert Roots: Jewish Middle Eastern Music,” a concert and presentation by Dror Sinai, on Thursday, August 15, at 3 pm. The cost to attend is $18. Melton will hold the virtual course “Lives and Afterlives: Kabbalah and Reincarnation” on Wednesday, August 21, from 1-2 pm. The cost to attend is $10. JIFA and Jewish Veg will hold the first “Aleph b’Elul: Jewish New Year for the Animals” virtual celebration on Wednesday, September 4, at 1:30 pm. In addition to the celebration, the event will include an update about the future of the organizations and showcase a sneak peek of their new “Clergy Statement” video. The Jewish Studio Project will hold the virtual program “Have You Made Art About It Yet? Tisha B’Av Edition” with Rabbi Adina Allen on Thursday, August 15, from noon-1:30 pm. The program will use a “methodology combining practices from the field of art therapy with a reimagined approach to Jewish learning and spirituality” to deal with sadness and grief. Ritualwell will hold the virtual class “The Poetry of Your Ancestors” on Wednesday, September 25, from noon-1:30 pm. The American Jewish University will hold the virtual class “Braiding in the Jewish New Year” with Rabbi Vanessa Harper on Tuesday, September 24, at 3 pm.
