A variety of Jewish groups are offering educational and recreational online resources. Below is a sampling of those. The Reporter will publish additional listings as they become available. 

The Yiddish Book Center will hold several events: “The Firschein Press: A Legacy Preserved” on Thursday, November 13, at 7 pm (available here); “Hand in Hand” with Anita Norich and Ellen Cassedy on Thursday, November 20, at 7 pm (available here); and “Book Launch | “Yiddish: A Global Culture: Bold Stories, Boundless Creativity” with David Mazower in conversation with Lisa Newman on Thursday, December 4, at 7 pm (available here).

Literary Modiin will hold it virtual November 2025 Author Event on Sunday, November 16, at 1 pm. The event will feature authors Nina B. Lichtenstein (“Body: My Life in Parts), Danila Botha (“A Place for People Like Ys”), and Yishay Ishi Ron with Yardenne Greenspan (“Dog”). For more information or to register, click here.

Tikvah Ideas is holding the four-part virtual course “The Human Condition – A Philosophical Reading of Ecclesiastes,” a video series with philosopher Dr. Micah Goodman. He will discuss what the book has to say about “life, death, joy, and suffering – or what it means to be human.” For more information or to register for the series, click here.

The Center for Jewish History will hold the virtual program “Family History Today: A Moroccan Jewish Genealogical Journey” on Monday, November 3, at 5 pm. The cost to attend is “pay what you wish.” Raquel Levy-Toledano will talk about her search to find out more about her great-grandfather who was born in Manchester. The Hadassah-Brandeis Institute will hold the hybrid program “”How to Survive? Israeli Women Civilians Coping with Hamas Captivity,” Gabriela Spector-Mersel on Tuesday, November 11, at 1:30 pm. “Spector-Mersel will present findings from her analysis with military health expert Dr. Leah Shelef of Hebrew University that can inform the rehabilitation process of released captives, especially civilian women.” For more information or to register, click here.

Aleph will hold the virtual course “Running and Returning: Rites of Passage in Jewish Tradition” on Wednesdays, November 5 and 19 and December 3, 17 and 29, from 7-8 pm. The cost to attend is $90. The course will “explore different rites of passage models from Torah such as the Garden of Eden story, Avraham’s journey of Lech Lecha, Yaakov’s wrestling with the angel, and the life of Miriam the Prophetess.” All reading will appear in English and transliteration. Yetzirah will hold the virtual workshop “Writing Shekhinah” with Joy Ladin on Wednesdays, November 5-19, from 1-2 pm. The cost to attend is $108. Ladin will “probe the intersections between language, poetry, and the Shekhinah, Jewish tradition’s name for divine presence.” For more information or to register, click here.

My Jewish Learning will hold the virtual class “Funny Story! The Best Jewish Humor Books of the Past 75 Years” on Mondays, October 27-Novmeber 17, at 6 pm. The cost to attend is $75. Journalist Andrew Silow-Carroll will discuss “landmark works of humorous Jewish fiction and satire.” For more information or to register, click here.

YIVO will hold the virtual book talk “The Tourist’s Guide to Lost Yiddish New York City” on Thursday, October 23, at 1 pm. Henry H. Sapoznik will discuss New York City’s Yiddish popular culture from 1880 to the present. For more information or to register, click here.

Moment magazine will hold the virtual program “Antisemitism: An American Tradition” with Pamela S. Nadell and Amy E. Schwartz on Tuesday, October 28, at 1:30 pm. Nadell discusses her new book with Moment Opinion and Books Editor Amy E. Schwartz. For more information or to register, click here.

Hadassah Magazine will hold the virtual program “Two Years On” with Yossi Klein Halevi and Lee Yaron” on Wednesday, October 29, at 12:30 pm. Hadassah Magazine Executive Editor Lisa Hostein hosts Halevi and Yaron for “a discussion about what it means to be a Jew today, in a post-October 7 world; how Israeli survivors are coping; and what almost two years of war and rising global antisemitism mean for the future of the Jewish people.” For more information or to register, click here.

The Museum at Eldridge Street will hold the virtual program “The Life of Arthur Rothstein: Documentary Photography, Memory and the Immigrant Experience” on Wednesday, November 19, at 6 pm.
