The Jewish Federation of Greater Binghamton will hold a Secure Community Network’s “Be Aware” security training session on Thursday, August 6, beginning at 6:30 pm, at the Jewish Community Center. The training will be led by Mark Henderson, regional security advisor, Rochester, for the Secure Community Network. The training is for the entire Binghamton community and details can be shared with anyone who may be interested in attending. Registration is required for this training. Henderson plans to include information that is specific for the greater Binghamton community, such as what Secure Community Network is tracking locally and episodes of concern that have happened recently in the local community. Additionally, attendees will practice some “hands on” skills, such as using a chair to lock a door.
“We hope everyone will join us for this essential training and hands-on learning event,” said Shelley Hubal, executive director of the Federation. “The Safety and Security committee is urging community members to not be complacent when it comes to safety. Committing to ongoing learning and reassessment is fundamental to creating a safe community.”
