The Rockwell Museum, 111 Cedar St., Corning, is holding the exhibit “Minna Citron: Color and Shape,” featuring works by the Jewish artist, through Monday, March 24. The exhibit explores the use of color and shape in the painter and printmaker’s abstract work. “A core group of 16 prints, donated to the museum by Christiane H. Citron, celebrate the artist’s embrace of chance and improvisation to uncover deeper psychological truths in her imagery,” said organizers of the exhibit.
For biographical information about Citron (1896-1991), see her entry in “The Shalvi/Hyman Encyclopedia of Jewish Women,” which is located in the Jewish Women’s Archive avaliable here.
